La Fortuna
We kicked things off with a few days at an Airbnb before treating ourselves to the Tabacón Hot Springs Resort, and it did not disappoint. Soaking in warm mineral pools with the Arenal Volcano looming in the background might be one of the most relaxing things I've ever done.
But we didn't just relax. La Fortuna is an adventure playground. Hanging bridges, ziplining, river rafting, and lounging in hot springs are just some of the adventures we went on. And of course, the food. Local soda shops served up some of the best home style Costa Rican cooking, and we couldn't get enough fresh fruit. Easily the sweetest, juiciest we've ever had. La Fortuna set the tone for the rest of the trip with equal parts thrill and chill. Next stop, the Pacific coast. 🌋
Tamarindo
From the volcano to the coast. Our next stop was Tamarindo, and we didn't leave the beach town once.
We spent our days catching waves (some of us better than others), wandering through town to check out the shops and local scene, and eating our way through some of Tamarindo's best restaurants.
The highlight, though, was a private catamaran tour that took us to a secluded beach only reachable by boat. Crystal clear water, no crowds, just our family and the Pacific. It doesn't get much better than that.
Tamarindo was the perfect way to close out the trip: slower pace, salty hair, and full stomachs. Pura vida. 🌊
